Two Toyota Prius finaly started working

Today it's the first time I've seen the new Toyota Prius Plus finaly working here in Puerto Rico. If I'm right both started working yesterday. One of them is licence number 18 and the other 155. Currently they seem to be driving very slowly... let's see how they drive in a few weeks time :P
It took quite long for them to start working as they where probably waiting for the 7 seater permission. There are no 7 seaters here in Mogan; max 5. I thing it has not been approved yet, and I think that it won't happen either. Let's wait and see ;)

Taxi Starting fee increased

Today the starting fee for the trips inside and between Arguineguin and Puerto Rico have been raised. It used to be 2.15€ at day and 2.70€ at night and from today on it will be 2.25€ at day and 2.80€ at night (22:00-06:00) and bank holidays. An error in my opinion as I think the starting fee should have been kept the same and maybe change the distance you have to drive for the click to start counting...

The trips outside Arguineguin and Puerto Rico will remain the same.

100.000 km mark reached

Ok, It's been about 6 month that we started working with the "new" car and we just reached the 100.000 km mark yesterday. Not bad considering there is not that much work for the taxi these days. Hopefully we get busy over Christmas :)

Trouble with Anfi

You know the Anfi resort in Puerto Rico?
Well, if you've ever been to Puerto Rico you probably know it.
The Taxi central in Mogan it's been working with Anfi for a long time know and we've been accepting their way of working with us till now.

We are driving many Anfi customers and "maybe" customers with so called "Taxi Slips". We drive, the customer gives us the "Taxi Slip" and then we go back to Anfi to get our money on the fly. We have arranged a deal and in most cases we receive less money than the trip is worth but we agreed to do so.

So what's the problem know?
Now Anfi says they want to pay us in three month (!) What is that? Yes, we drive a customer to Puerto Rico for 5€ (Taxi Slip) and we'll get those 5€ three month later. I don't know what those people are thinking but we do not agree with this as we still have to pay for insurance, fuel, repairs and other stuff and we surely cannot pay them with Taxi Slips but with real cash.
As Anfi doesn't seem to care about that the only way to make them clear we disagree is to block Anfi from receiving our service. This includes the whole Anfi resort in Puerto Rico (Anfi Beach Club, Monte Anfi, Puerto Anfi and Grand Anfi) and in Tauro (Anfi Emerald Club and the Anfi Golf Courses). We will continue to bring customers to the those locations but there won't be any pickups. The blocking started at Monday the 2nd of November and it is not defined when it will be finished. Let's hope that both parts come to a solution soon.

Follow that taxi

"Follow that taxi!"

You hear this expression in many movies but I have to say I hear that very often as well here in Puerto Rico :)

The difference is that in the movies someone say this to the driver because he is following someone and want to know where this person is going and in Puerto Rico they say it because it's a family or friends driving in separated taxis and they are going to the same place.
People always laugh when they use that expression and it's always funny to hear it.

Working in a Taxi

Working in a taxi makes you meet lots of people every day and sometimes see and/or live strange and/or funny (or maybe not so funny) situations.
I thought a blog could be a great way to let people read and comment some of these situations we live on a daily basis here in Puerto Rico (Mogán).
